I'm Ana Paula Durán, and my job is to offer you that safe territory where creation becomes the language of your healing. I accompany adults and young people to to sustain, to understand, and to transform through the power of creative expression.
My journey began in the visual arts in Colombia, from a deep need to create to understand the world. I quickly discovered that art is the most intimate and profound way to listen to what inside me still cannot find words.
This intuition prompted me to train in Psychology and Art Therapy (Master's Degree in Canada), confirming my conviction: the creative process, accompanied by presence and compassion, It has the power to transform what hurts.
My professional practice has developed in Canada, Germany and Spain, weaving a network of experiences in clinical, community and private contexts with diverse populations.
One chapter that is etched in my heart is my time in Germany. There I had the honor of co-founding the Rostock Psychosocial Centre for Migrants and Refugees (opening her first art therapy practice) and starting a Art Hive of the international network. Both projects were pivotal: they made me immensely aware of the pain and resilience involved in the experience of exile, loss, and migration. That experience solidified my commitment to the social justice and the democratization of care, leaving an indelible mark that sustains my way of accompanying today.
My approach to work is psychodynamic (exploring the root of your story), informed by trauma, integrating the wisdom of the body and recognizing it as a fundamental ally on the path to healing.
Key Areas of Specialization:
-Trauma.
-Addiction Recovery (Current collaboration with Hospital Sant Pau and Fundación Salud y Comunidad).
-Life Changes and Transitions.
I understand therapy as an ongoing commitment, and my responsibility to you means never ceasing to learn. I am constantly delving deeper into areas such as trauma, the body, addictions, and mindfulness, integrating new knowledge to ensure your process is supported with the highest possible quality.
My therapeutic work is inseparable from a critical view of systems of oppression and its impact on our mental health. I have dedicated years to human rights activism, working in defense of refugees, cultural diversity, and food sovereignty.
For me, art therapy is a vital act of resistance:
I firmly believe that creation is a safe territory where each image opens a new possibility and a new perspective. My purpose is to offer you a place where you can:
